Vehicle wrap designer in Perth, questions

Artwork built onto the installer's vehicle template, covering each panel of the vehicle, with a mockup showing how it looks from each side. You should get a print-ready vector file set to the template, plus the mockups. Printing and installation are done by the wrap shop and quoted separately, so the design gig is the artwork only.

Being readable from a moving car. That means very few words, a phone number or web address large enough to catch at a glance, and strong contrast. The other half is planning around the vehicle itself: door handles, wheel arches, window lines and body curves all interrupt artwork, so anything important has to sit on a flat, uninterrupted panel.

Usually 1 to 2 weeks once you have the template from your wrap installer. Getting that template is the step that holds most gigs up, so request it before you post the gig. Templates are vehicle-specific down to the model year, so the wrong one means redoing the artwork.

Yes, and it should be the exact make, model and year. Wrap shops supply these, and designing without one is guesswork that usually ends in artwork sitting across a door seam or being trimmed off. If your installer cannot supply one, that is a reason to check whether they are the right installer.

A partial wrap, covering doors and rear, carries most of the message for a fraction of the cost, and for many trades it is the sensible call. A full wrap makes sense when the vehicle is a genuine part of your visibility and the design uses the whole body. Decide before design, because the two are laid out quite differently.

Vector artwork built to their template at the correct scale, with fonts outlined and images at high enough resolution for large-format print. Ask the shop for their file spec before the gig starts and pass it to the designer. Every shop has slightly different requirements for bleed and panel overlap.

In Perth, artwork for a partial wrap (doors and rear) typically runs $500 to $1,200. A full wrap designed across every panel more commonly lands at $1,500 to $3,500, and a fleet with several vehicle types sits higher. Printing and installation are separate and usually the larger cost.

The range on this page runs from about $49 to $164 an hour. Around $49 to $66 is a junior designer, $58 to $115 covers most gigs (an experienced designer working solo), and above $123 is a design lead. Wraps are expensive to print and install, so paying for a designer who has done them before is cheap insurance.

Ask for photos of wrapped vehicles they have designed, on the road rather than as flat renders. Ask whether they have worked to installer templates before. A designer who asks for the template and the vehicle year in the first message understands the job.

Post a vehicle wrap design gig in under five minutes. Describe the work, set your budget and timeframe, and choose whether it is time-based or outcome-based. Local freelancers send a bid with a quote, you compare their profiles, portfolios and reviews, then pick the one that fits. Posting is free, so you only pay for the work.

Every gig is split into stages you both agree on up front. You fund each stage before the work starts and it is held securely through Stripe, then released once you sign off. No chasing invoices, and no paying for work that is not done.
